Review of Gerber 22-80123 Balefire Camo Lantern, LED

Purchased this lantern in an effort to replace all the fluorescent tubed lanterns with LED variants for increased economy and efficiency. First off, the construction of this lantern is great, with it actually being heavier than it appears. This weight is not a downside but it does speak volumes compared to lighter lower quality lanterns. The switch is a simple 2-stage click type, with a low and high mode. Low mode makes for a good nightlight but high mode is much brighter and easily lights up a normal sized room when hung high.
I was initially concerned about the orange diffuser over the LED but the light given off is actually much more warm and incandescent in appearance. I actually prefer this light over some LED lanterns which can be too white or even blue at times. The output is also very smooth, with no rings, lines, or other dark spots. Overall this light is a very well built and great addition that would make a great camping light or emergency home light.
The only reason I gave it a 4-star rating is due to the high cost of each unit...I purchased one locally for $50 which included 3-c batteries. I recently found a Brunton Polaris light that looks suspiciously similar but considerably less costly so I have one on order.
