Review of Gerber 22-41144 Yari II S30V Drop Point Knife

I didn't actually get this knife through Amazon.I bought it through Cabela's, but since there are no reviews here, and this knife warrants some real praise, I'll be the first.

I bought this knife to replace a lost Schrade that I used mostly for field dressing deer.I liked the looks of the knife, the mounting options, blade length, etc.I had also read really great things about the S30V steel.

Let me tell you, this knife performs flawlessly! In the short time I've owned it, I've field dressed several deer and two turkeys. The blade length is perfect for deer, in my opinion, but a little too long to work around the insides of a turkey. In fact, while dressing the turkeys, I actually cut myself several times. The blade has zero forgiveness against skin, even if it's a light touch.Extremely sharp!

The serated edge works well for sawing partially through the pelvic bone on deer, and then twisting the knife to finish breaking the bone.Several times of doing this, and the edge is still "factory sharp".It will still shave the hair off my arm with very light stroke!<--(Attempt at your own risk!)The handle gets slightly slippery when wet, but it's manageable.

While on the pricey side, this knife definitely performs.I will be extra careful not to lose this one!
