Review of Gerber 45780 Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Serrated Double Edge Pocket Knife

I've owned this knife for some time now for collectible purposes and every once in a while I'll take it out of the sheath and open some mail with it or something, (after all, you have to at least TRY it out.)

The blade is very smooth opening and SOLID when locked.Even good knives sometimes have a little bit of blade wiggle if you push on it, but not this one.The grip could be better, if your life depended on a solid grip on this thing - if it's wet, you're in trouble. The grip is strong, you can tell when you hold it, but it feels cheap for some reason. The lock is unquestionable, sometimes you get locks of this style that don't fully `click over' or however you want to say it, but this one is LOCKED.When you use it, you can tell the manufacturing tolerances were very precise.Very strong rigid knife.

Would I recommend this knife?Absolutely!Would I pay anything more then maybe $60 or $70 for it?Probably not.You could get a good made in the USA knife that a little better for about the same price, maybe a Benchmade or Spyderco.
