Review of Gerber 22-45640 / 22-999628 River Shorty Watersport, Blunt Tip Knife with Sheath

The sheath is 5 stars and it's probably the perfect knife for personal watercrafts. It just bothers me that there is not a point at the end and a sharp bade all around (this must somehow relate to my Y chromosome). At the same time, I know that this is meant to protect me from myself while I am kayaking with wet cold hands and miles away from a hospital.

The knife has no sharp area on the top side, but does have a ridge area for your thumb to rest and get friction while cutting. The blunt tip is about like a dull screw driver tip and the 1st inch of the blade side nearest the tip is also tapered but blunt.

What this knife speacializes in is the serated edge that will easily cut the ties that bind you. I am glad to have it in case of accident where I need to get free from ropes or fishing line while in the water. I use a pair of nail clippers for usual fishing needs.

This knife and sheath solidly clip together without a sheath snap and that sheath is built so that it will not come loose of my PFD strap.
