I am mostly giving this 5 stars to balance the fool who gave it 3 without any knowledge of the product.I own the sharpener and several Gerber knives. They make a nice product.
When you first look at the sharpener, you wonder how it could do a good job. The sharpening surface feels like a diamond coated nail file. But a couple of light swipes and you have a nice edge. Because of the angle, I would not put a fine knife like a Shun through it. But for the average kitchen knife, it takes a second to make a blade capable of slicing tomatoes without making a mess of things.
I probably would give the package 4 stars as it is not a must have product. But I just claimed one in the Lightning Deal, and it will make a nice gift for another knife lover.
