I had not heard of Danze when reviewing bath products for my remodel. I asked a couple plumbers I know about Danze & they too had not heard of it. I did some research online & decided to try the products. I was pleasantly surprised with the high quality of the Danze fixtures. It is definitely "high-end" and compares to Groeh and other luxury fixtures. The price on Amazon for this product was an exceptional deal. The Danze comes with excellent instruction material & is superior packaging. I highly recommend for others for bath or kitchen remodels/upgrades. The roman tub fixture looks absolutely stunning in my new bath. So much so that I bought the matching shower & vanity fixtures.

Review of Winchester Illumination LED Flashlight and Flexi-Light Combo #22-999235

The flex light is great for reading in the dark, it's a little heavy so you need to hook about 50 pages into the clip to get it to stay on the book (not a problem if you're reading hard cover). And while I haven't used it for this yet, it will be amazing for working on computers, or in other small metallic spaces, it's got a magnet in the base so you can attach it to the bottom of your case and move the light around. It's really bright, almost too bright when reading, but good for other work. It uses button batteries (the little round disk ones) so it'll be simi-expensive to replace those (cheaper to buy a new flashlight) but they'll last pretty long, especially with an LED.

The big flashlight is ok, nothing really special. It's only a single LED, so it's not that bright, but it works well enough for one person (it's not really bright enough to light up a path for several people walking side-by-side). Because of the lens they have in there it limits the wide angle of the LED into a bright circle, so it's not like a bulb where it's bright in the center then fades as it moves the five feet towards the edge of the light circle. Holding the flashlight about three feet off the ground make about a ten inch circle of light. So like I said, enough for one person walking, or for use around the home or in a tent or something. My only real problem with it is the on/off button is basically flush with the case, so it's hard find the button to turn the thing on when you can't see it.
Totally worth the money.

Review of Danze D205358 Parma Single-Handle Wall Mount Pot Filler, Chrome (Not CA/VT Compliant)

I purchased this pot filler as part of a complete kitchen remodel. I've only used it one to test the plumbing before I closed up the wall and it worked just fine. The stainless steel finish is beautiful and the two shutoff valves will be helpful to prevent flooding your stove with water unexpectedly.

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the arms of the pot filler, when folded against one another, are not perfectly parallel. The shorter, outermost arm hangs down ever so slightly against the longer, innermost arm. Call me a perfectionist on this, but I think it just has to do with the articulating joint being a tad undersized. Take note this does not affect the function of the pot filler however.

It has a great, long reach which allows me to fill up pots on the front burners or even pitchers on the adjacent counter. If you are redoing your kitchen, I highly suggest investing in a pot filler such as this.

I got this faucet at a very good price on the Friday sale and it is beautiful. My plumber loved it -- he said it was quality. Before I had a problem with the spout being too short and water getting on the sink surrounding the basin when washing. This solves the problem and is lovely also. Five stars. Well, eight months later and a piece broke. Danze is willing to replace the piece (if I knew what is was) but as I'm in Mexico, it's a hardship. I still have to pay the plumber to install it again if I get the piece.

I just received this faucet and was surprised that the color as depicted in the picture was quite different from the actual product.I was expecting the typical oil-rubbed bronze color (very dark brown) which would match my other accessories, however this Danze oil-rubbed bronze is closer to what I would call an antique copper.It has very obvious rosy highlights.Fine if thats what you like, but it will not match other oil-rubbed bronze accessories.I have not installed it yet as I will likely exchange it for the black finish.The faucet otherwise seems well made, but as another reviewer mentioned, be sure you have enough clearance for the stopper lever which angles back toward the backsplash when you engage it.I questioned the manufacturer about the clearance needed, they didn't know and have not yet gotten back to me about this.

Review of Danze D404214PBV Opulence Single-Handle Kitchen Faucet with Spray, Polished Brass (Not CA/VT Compliant)

In reference to the Danze D404214SS Opulence Single-Handle Kitchen Faucet. It looked great so i bought it. Fresh out of the box and installed it had two problems, and eventually as i found out it had four problems.

1. Even when you turn the faucet off it continued to run slightly, unless you really force the handle up. I MEAN REALLY FORCE IT, and it has to be perfectly centered. I MEAN REALLY PERFECTLY!Even so, eventually it will start to run again.
2. Even with the aerator screwed on tight water leaks around and out of the top of the end cap.

The plumber - who is a master plumber chuckled and said...junk. I guess he thought that would make me feel better. I actually called Danze and the rather terse and inconvenienced person (from somewhere far, far to the east of here) said he would send me a "cartridge."
I guess he assumed that I installed faucets for a living. I asked what is a cartidge?, whereupon he said, 'it goes inside". WOW, the clouds parted and sunlight bathed my higher chakras. It was all clear to me.

STERLING CUSTOMER SERVICE DON'T YOU THINK!!

I finally received the cartridge and yes it did correct the leak. A friend of mine has the same faucet and noticed that on his faucet you pull the handle out (away from the stem} to turn it on, while on mine you push it towards the stem. It turns out that not only was the cartridge defective, it was installed upside down! We then corrected the problem...I was quickly becoming a faucet expert!!

Finally the top part of the faucet, the part that revolves, was always very loose. I thought that was the way it was supposed to be, until my friend asked, "why is this so loose". Using a pliers we had to tighten the top screw cap, which in order to keep the faucet correctly tightened required lots of force. enough to mar the finish (yes we did wrap a cloth around it first).

It is regrettable that so many products I have purchased over the past few years are so poorly manufactured. This Danze piece is the last in a long line of ItemsI now refer to as a POC (pronounced "POCK") which is an acronym for Piece Of Crap. It turns out that POCs are most often MICs (Made In China). Actually I have found as a rule all MICs are POCs, but not all POCs are MICs

Don't let the charm and good looks fool you. I will never order a Danze product again. So there it is...FOUR things wrong with a faucet. i can understand four things wrong with a car, four things wrong with the Space Shuttle, but sheesh...a faucet. If your the type that looks for good looks alone, buy it. If on the other hand you seek a deeper relationship, like a faucet that works...avoid this item. The product sucks and so does customer service.

Addendum - I called Danze again to order a new aerator as it continued to leak. I received it and it leaked just the same. I installed some silicone tape around the thread and that helped.

I am beginning to think I was sold a used product...shame on 3rd party Danny K for selling it to me. I will consider carefully next time when ordering from third party vendors through Amazon.

I work at Keck Observatory where suddenly getting stuck in the dark is a regular experience, and some places you can get stuck could be quite dangerous.You learn quickly to always have a light of some sort at the ready.I have carried a Gerber Infinity for a few months now and it is exactly what I needed, very small, it fits in a side pouch to my cell phone case, thus I never forget to have it with me.The single LED is quite bright, easily bright enough to walk around with or to work with, though not as bright as the bigger LED flashlights.I still have yet to replace the battery after three months despite regular use.At first I did not like the lack of a rear button switch like some lights, but have found that the screw type switch never gets accidentally activated and now prefer it.Very solid construction, nothing cheap about how it is put together.I can wholeheartedly recommend it!

I wanted a knife with a premium steel blade. The Gator, with its 154cm steel blade seemed to be such, and at a reasonable price. The blade is very nicely made, as is the rubbery grip. But the blade moves slightly inside the grip. That is, when you press down on the knife for cutting, the blade moves slightly but noticeably backward within the handle. This is not side to side motion as might sometimes occur (there is none in this knife). The motion is as if the knife wants to open just a little further than normal as you press down on it. It's not a big big deal, but it definitely subtracts from my liking of the knife.

Just spoke to Gerber Blades (2/13/08) and they said to send the knife back. I will update this review pending the results. Also, the blade definitely says '154cm' on it, not ATS-34 as listed here.

March 5: Gerber returned a brand new knife which has exactly the same problem. I guess that's how they all are. I like the blade so I will live with the small discrepancy.

Review of Winchester 22-41793 Parfive Titanium Nitride Tanto Knife

What a great looking knife right off the bat, it seems like the frame and the clip are well made and definitely clean looking. but when I try to flick the knife open it barely moves, I immediately figure that maybe it was just assembled too tightly as the factory. First you have to remove the belt clip to access the second screw holding the blade in, I loosen the screw up a little and it doesn't do any good, Winchester did a really lousy job making the shims for either side of the blade. The one on the liner lock side is fine, but the two that they used on the opposite side are just absolutely terrible, one is a dirty clear plastic shim, the other is an even thinner piece of white plastic and when used in conjunction with one another they just take up too much space and make a lot of resistance for the opening and closing blade. To remove either shim makes the blade rub on the inner frame. The blade comes as dull as a butter knife but it sharpens right up. But the coating on the blade is already wearing off where the straight part of the blade turns to the tanto tip and I have have the knife less than a week.

Overall, I would say that the knife is an OK buy for sub $10 but any more than that and you are taking a gamble, i don't plan on carrying this knife very often unless I can make some good shims for it because a pocket knife needs to be both easy to access and reliable and I have a feeling this will be neither.

Review of Profile, Black Rubber Handle, Black Blade, Plain

Have you ever asked yourself "what would be a good EDC knife and survival knife and a knife that will everything I need it to do"? To be honest I have many times and I find that this blade right here answers the call. I have split many pieces of wood with this baby and it goes through them like a charm. Granted the blade is only 3.5 inches but it gets a lot done. The best test for a blade is to take it outside and do some extensive test on it and that's what I did. I split wood with it by beating near tip or on tip with a wood baton and the blade still held up and I was going through some really tough wood as you often encounter when going out in the woods. Another test I did was chopping away at my wood so I could split it and again the blade came through with flying colors. Then once when I got done getting all my wood split and ready to burn, I realized I did not have a shovel so what I did was I dug a hole with the blade for the fire pit and again the blade did awesome. Then once when I got the fire going I needed more wood so I got more chopped it then split it and it was still charging very hard after I abused it by digging in the cold ground. Oh yeah by the way the temperature was about 30 or 40 degrees and by the time it hit full on night it was about 25 30 degrees so that is very good testing conditions for a blade.
Currently this is my EDC blade right now because I trust this blade with my life because it has everything I want in a good survival knife. And what still continues to amaze me is how light weight the blade is (6.1 oz). Also how compact the blade is too (8.56).Also I like the tang in the blade too because it's a full tang and a blade that has a full tang is going to last so much longer. Here is an example the KA-Bar Marine fighting knife. It does not have a full tang so I would have to say that this blade is stronger than the KA-Bar because that blade does not have a full tang. If you don't want to carry this blade just keep it in your vehicle and maybe you just might need it. Also here is a tip, put electrical tape around the handle because when you are chopping or splitting wood the energy transfers to your hand and it hurts. Reason being is that the tang is so good that it sticks out about 4 millimeters but I would rather have that than a crappy tang. Also put electrical tape around the thumb break but not on the thumb break just on the nylon and it makes it easier to gain access to the blade and putting it away.

The sheath they give you is made out of nylon denier cordura and that is the strongest fabric you can basically get. Also in the sheath they give you a non removable plastic insert that way every time you place the blade in it won't mess up the nylon. The sheath is also able to go through a belt but sadly is not MOLLE compatible. Thanks for reading I know I did not cover everything but I did not want to make it longer than it already is. They also make a folding version, but i have not used that one yet. Maybe Gerber would send it to me and i could test it.

This looks like a really versatile tool. My wife bought herself one and opened up all of the various implements to show me all the cool stuff it has. Unfortunately, the one thing it doesn't have is an instruction book explaining how to actually close the blades once they're locked open. She's tried pretty much everything (except, obviously, the right thing) and can't get them closed. so, rather than a cool versatile tool, she now has a fairly dangerous and unusable hammer bristling with knife blades!

If you need a small blade to open boxes, bags and cut up to about 3/8" rope - this is the ticket.At sub-$20 it's practically disposable compared to when the K.I.S.S. design was released.It's certainly not designed for hard tasks, to be used all day long or for self defense - if you need those functions look elsewhere.The blade can open in your pocket and may while digging in pockets for other stuff - check out the Gerber "Trendy" model if that is a concern for you.Also the black will wear off quickly so if you want 'longterm pretty' get a full stainless knife.

Review of Gerber 22-80042 Trio LED Flashlight, Silver

If I based this review solely on durability of the shell and the physical power of the light that comes out, this is not a bad flashlight.

Problem though is that there is a serious design flaw that will render this thing useless and unfortunately, it could really ruin your day if this is the only flashlight you take out with you.


Plus: Well crafted and very sturdy shell; powerful triple LED beam.

Minus: It breaks VERY QUICKLY


Here's what happens:

To turn on the flashlight you are required to twist down the back cap all the way until the LED is on. To turn it off, you simply twist it off.

Do this too many times, and eventually the springs weaken and then when you screw the cap down 100%, there is weak to little contact with the batteries to the terminals resulting in 0% light.

Save your money and purchase a light that has a "switch" mechanism. If this light had a switch, I would give it 5 stars.So you may want to try a different GERBER model.

This was my only model and unfortunately it's the last because I can't find the receipt!

Maybe other people will have better luck?Either way, I find the twist on ideahorrible for longevity.

1. That "switch" is the most terrible function or "decoration" on any flashlight I have seen that is called a switch on the end cap.

2. It does not switch on and off the device as advertised.It creates electrical continuity and only turns on when the aluminum end-cap touches the barrel end surface.There is NO "SWITCH" as you indicate in your mis-leading advertising.

3. Also, just the act of turning it on makes a loud mouse-like squeaking noise.Really BAD design.Just stupid that a near $[...] flashlight ... Squeaks!

4. I believed the advertising.Foolish me!

5. Please SEND ME A .PDF of the OWNERS MANUAL ON OPERATION AND THE WARRANTY - IF ANY EXISTS FOR THIS THING.No documentation may be in existence because it is of such fly-by-night design.

6. I cannot get reimbursed for my shipping expenses from [...] because they think it works asadvertised.I don't agree.But the Customer Loses.

7. Unless this results changes, it is my last purchase from Gerber and KnifeCenter and the beginning of my blog complaints for both companies.

Brought this for work - to use during property surveys.Nice and small and fits in my pants pocket.Light is good for a flashlight that uses only 1 AA battery.The best part is how long the single AA battery lasts.It's been a couple of months now and I'm still on the same battery!The screw on/off switch is not great (otherwise I would give this 5 stars) and needs two hands to operate.A push on/off button at the end would be better.Imagine holding a clip board in one hand, and a pen and this flashlight in the other, and having to use both hands to turn this thing on.However, with the battery life, one can just leave it on during the whole survey.

Review of Gerber 31-000149 Pakka and Cherry Knife Set, 3-Piece

Amazon handles so many things, that occasionally descriptions of some are getting messed up. So if I sometimes suspect, that description might be wrong again, I check somewhere else and if I learn what it actually is and still like the item, I come back to Amazon, as price usually is the best here. This time the set of three knives has nothing with Gerber. It was made probably in another country for Winchester. The Winchester name is etched on blades of each knife, steel obviously stainless, but no stamp of steel type found anywhere. All blades are razor sharp and seem to hold the edge. Usually when I want quickly check quality of blade, I put it through sharpening of several pencils. The hunting knife passed the test in flying colours , cutting through wood like through the butter. The other knives seem to sport the same steel, but they were not tested yet.
This knife set is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. The box is competing in this contest of beauty and could possibly take a grand prize if we were buying box, not knives. The coolness and beauty of the box is so striking, that if I didn't already know, I would expect to see $10,000 treasure after lifting the cover. Before I wrote this review, I made sure to secure purchase of another set for my son (it will make a beautiful Christmas gift).
As I found no slightest blemish visually,there is some roughness on my hunting knife, when touching the contact between steel and wood on the handle. It looks as not enough time was devoted to grind down the slightly protruding steel. I do not see it as a problem, but if in the future I find this annoying, a couple of hours with fine sand paper on the block will surely solve the problem.
P.S. After about three months of using these knives and after Christmas, when my son's set is opened and tested, I'm planning to write a short update to my today's review.
